Cheerleading 2011

Congrats Ladies on making the squad! We all know you worked really hard at the tryouts.

I Interviewed 7th grader Lauren and she told me about all of the hard work that goes into the practices. I asked her on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard the tryouts were, and she answered with a 7. I was also wondering what kinds of things they did to prepare and tryout for the squad. She replied with jumps, cheers, and dances. Cheerleading is also a great sport for working together. I asked Lauren what it was like to work with other people trying out and she said “it was really fun and exciting working with all of the girls trying out.” Lauren also said that there is a lot of work to put in for just preparing to do all of the cheers. You will have to practice a lot, and stretch constantly, and drink a ton of water.

I then talked to Keara of 8th grade and Stewart of 7th, both of them athletes that made the team, what it was like to be on the school cheerleading squad. They said you feel spectacular and you have a lot of school spirit. I asked a couple of background questions about why they got interested in cheerleading. Stewart’s inspiration was her sister, who is now a high school cheerleader, and Keara said her dad pushed her to go out for the squad. They both said that you have to try your best and put in 110% all the time. Just like Lauren, Stewart and Keara said you have to stretch your body, mind, and muscles before every practice.

The Mustang cheerleaders work really hard to pump up the crowd so our teams can try their hardest. Let’s hope for another successful year at the Cheerleading Competition, and at all of our games. Thanks for cheering on our school Mustangs! Have a great season!
